Pilot studies in the U.S. and Asia suggest that Young Bones™ may strengthen the functions of the kidneys, spleen and pancreas and assist in bone mass generation, which cumulatively help to relieve the symptoms associated with a variety of bone health problems. World-renowned bone health specialist Susan Brown, Ph.D., has conducted a pilot study of Young Bones™ in the U.S. through her Osteoporosis Education Project (OEP), a non-profit research and educational organization based in Syracuse, N.Y. In the tudy, started in May 2003, all subjects had excessive bone loss and were suffering from various conditions associated with the aging process. After 12 weeks of taking the Young Bones™ supplement the subjects cumulatively experienced a 57% reduction in overall pain, stiffness and mobility problems and a 67% reduction in lower back pain in particular. In addition, the research suggests that Young Bones™ may stimulate the formation of new bone cells, which in turn act as “building blocks” for new bone mass. This is noteworthy because other bone health products, such as calcium supplements, typically slow bone loss, but have not proven effective at generating new bone mineral density.
Although results can vary from individual to individual, in some cases Young Bones™ initially stimulates more new bone formation than it decreases bone breakdown. In other cases, the immediate action of Young Bones™ appears to halt excessive bone breakdown, rather than stimulate new bone formation. Additional study results are expected this spring.
